Sore Muscle Relief Essential Oil Roller

Whether you’ve had an intense workout or a long day on your feet, muscle soreness can be a real challenge. This sore muscle relief essential oil roller offers a natural, convenient way to ease tension and promote relaxation. In this article, you’ll discover the best essential oils for soothing sore muscles and how to create a simple, effective roller blend for quick relief.

Sore muscles can be quite uncomfortable and, at times, downright painful. I used to get sore muscles after every workout.

That was until I started warming up my body before my workouts and cooling down with a stretch afterward. That almost completely eliminated my post-workout sore muscles.

But every now and then, I overdo it or lift something I shouldn’t, causing me pain. I always reach for my essential oil roller for sore muscle relief whenever that happens.

It provides immediate relief from the pain and soreness caused by overexerting my muscles. It is a great alternative to store-bought products like IcyHot or Bengay.

These types of store-bought pain relief creams are not only more expensive than my DIY sore muscle relief roller, but they also include inactive ingredients that are a little questionable, and I am just not 100% sure how I feel about applying them to my skin.

However, one thing you may or may not realize about these same store-bought muscle pain relief creams is that their main active ingredients are sometimes derived from plants.

They usually contain ingredients like camphor and menthol.

Camphor is an organic compound derived from the wood of camphor trees. Menthol is an organic compound obtained from mint plants such as peppermint.

But sometimes when camphor or menthol is listed on the ingredient list of pain relief creams, it refers to the synthetic version, not the one found in nature.

That is why I prefer to make my own sore muscle relief roller. It is cheaper, and I know exactly what’s in it.

Best Essential Oils for Sore Muscles

I like to use peppermint, camphor, wintergreen, clove, and eucalyptus essential oils in my DIY muscle pain relief roller.

Peppermint essential oil contains menthol which has a cooling effect when applied to the skin. Eucalyptus essential oil also has a cooling effect on the skin and feels wonderful when applied to sore muscles.

Eucalyptus essential oil can also reduce pain and inflammation.

Wintergreen essential oil, like peppermint, also has a cooling effect on the skin. It can also reduce pain and inflammation.

Camphor essential oil can help to relieve pain and discomfort associated with sore muscles and achy joints

Clove essential oil is a hot oil and should be used with caution. However, when carefully diluted, it can have a warming effect on the skin.

You can click here to read a study that confirms the effectiveness of essential oils in reducing pain. There have been many different studies done over the years, and many of them prove that essential oils are a great all-natural remedy for muscle pain relief.

When the cooling oils are combined with the warming oils and applied to the skin, they have an effect similar to that of IcyHot.

It feels so good on sore muscles.

However, this DIY muscle relief roller blend is for adult use only. It should never be used on children because several of the essential oils are not safe for children.

How to Make Sore Muscle Relief Essential Oil Roller Blend

To make this roller, you will need the essential oils mentioned above plus a carrier oil, such as coconut or almond oil. You’ll also need a 10ml glass roller bottle.

If you don’t have one on hand, I recommend these ones or these ones.

Whatever you decide to use, just make sure it is made from glass. Plastic rollers should never be used with essential oils.

Pure essential oils are very potent and the plastic may begin to deteriorate and leach into the essential oils over time.

You should also ensure that your roller bottle has a metal rollerball. Again, it’s best to avoid plastic.

How to use Sore Muscle Relief Essential Oil Roller

This sore muscle relief roller is used the same way you would use a store-bought pain relief cream. Simply roll it onto the area where you are experiencing pain and soreness and gently massage it into the skin with your fingertips.

Be sure to wash your hands immediately afterward unless you enjoy that icy hot feeling on your hands.

You should begin experiencing relief within a minute or so. You can reapply this roller as often as needed throughout the day.

Make sure to keep this roller out of the reach of small children because, as I mentioned before, it does contain essential oils that are not safe for young kids.

Need Essential Oils?

Always use high-quality essential oils. Not all essential oils are created equal. Some are diluted with carrier oils or synthetic ingredients, and some are completely fake and only contain synthetic ingredients.

So make sure the essential oils you choose are 100% pure before using. Not only do synthetic essential oils not work, but they can also be dangerous.
