Daily Healthy Habits For Women

I truly believe daily healthy habits are the key to creating a healthy lifestyle and living a healthy life.

I was sick and tired, literally, for over ten years! It wasn’t until I was finally diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in 2018 that I began to take my health seriously.

You can read my full story here.

Before that, I was a sugar addict, and I rarely exercised or ate vegetables. My health was at the bottom of my priority list until I was forced to make some major lifestyle changes.

It was all very overwhelming, but here I am, almost three years later, feeling better than I ever dreamed I could—and it’s all thanks to living a healthy lifestyle.

But it didn’t happen overnight. I had to make some significant changes, and seeing and feeling a real difference took time.

I examined my life, and it was obvious that I needed to break some bad habits and develop new healthy ones—so that is what I did.

I began implementing small, daily, healthy habits that eventually snowballed into a full-on healthy lifestyle.

So, if my story is similar to yours or you’re just desiring to live a healthier life but are feeling overwhelmed, start developing a few daily healthy habits.

Daily healthy habits are a great way to kickstart a healthy lifestyle and ultimately change your life.

A few of my favorite daily healthy habits that I recommend are below.

Drink Warm Lemon Water in The Morning

Drinking warm lemon water every morning before you eat and drink anything else can improve your health in several ways.

Starting your day with a glass of lemon water helps rehydrate your body after hours of sleep. Proper hydration is essential for overall health, and adding lemon can enhance the flavor, encouraging you to drink more water.

Lemon water may aid digestion by stimulating the production of digestive juices and bile, which helps break down food more effectively. The citric acid in lemons can also enhance enzyme function in the stomach, promoting a smoother digestive process.

Lemons are also an excellent source of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that supports the immune system, promotes skin health, and protects cells from oxidative damage. Starting the day with a dose of vitamin C can give your immune system a boost.

I love to drink lemon water first thing in the morning, not only for its health benefits but also because it’s a great way to start the day focused on health and can set the tone for the rest of the day.

Journal \ Pray

Mindset and intention are extremely important when striving to live a healthy life. It’s really easy to get off track and fall back into old habits if you don’t focus on your health and aren’t intentional about your day.

Spending time praying each morning or writing in your journal are great tools for making healthy choices throughout the day.

Starting the day being conscious and aware of the life you are striving to live and the decisions that you desire to make can set you up for success throughout the day.

In my quiet time in the morning, I always ask God to provide me with the strength and wisdom to make choices that are good and healing to my body.

I also like to write my health goals for the day in my journal.

Eat More Fruits & Veggies

My views on diets and different ways of eating have shifted greatly over the years.

I’ve done the Atkins diet and the Whole30, and I ate paleo for years and years. More recently, I was really into keto. I’ve been gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free, and I even stopped eating meat at one point for a while.

My philosophy when it comes to food now is pretty simple—eat real food that gives more than it takes.

What I mean by that is—eat food that is vitamin and mineral rich and that is easy to digest.

Some foods offer hardly any nutritional value and are difficult for the body to digest. These types of foods are taking more energy than they are giving and these types of foods should be avoided in my opinion.

With all of that being said, I realize that diets and different ways of eating can be a touchy subject, but I think that most people will agree that adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet can be very beneficial.

Fruits and vegetables are loaded with vitamins and minerals as well as fiber.

Fiber, particularly insoluble fiber, adds bulk to the stool and helps it move through the digestive system more easily. This can prevent constipation and promote regular bowel movements. Soluble fiber, on the other hand, absorbs water and forms a gel-like substance, which can help soften the stool.

High-fiber foods tend to be more filling than low-fiber foods, which can help control hunger and reduce overall calorie intake. By promoting feelings of fullness, fiber can help prevent overeating, making it beneficial for weight management and even weight loss.

Fiber serves as a prebiotic, which means it feeds the beneficial bacteria in your gut. A healthy gut microbiome is linked to better immune function, reduced inflammation, and improved mental health. By promoting the growth of good bacteria, fiber helps support overall gut health.

By simply incorporating more fruits and veggies into your diet you can improve your overall health greatly.

Get Outside

I am a huge believer in the benefits of getting outside in the sunshine and being in nature.

Aside from exercise, the best thing for my energy levels, mood, and overall well-being has been allowing the sun to penetrate my skin for at least 30-60 minutes a day.

I try to get around 20-30 minutes of sunshine around sunrise and another 20-30 minutes around lunchtime.

When your skin is exposed to the sun, your body creates hormone D (widely known as vitamin D). Hormone D can help improve your mood, boost your immune system, increase your energy, and much more!

Getting light in your eyes and on your skin at sunrise is crucial to resetting your circadian rhythm, which has many health benefits.

I like to spend my quiet time each morning in the sunshine with my bare feet in the dirt or grass (whenever the weather allows, of course!).

Grounding or earthing is also great for your health and overall well-being.

Take Vitamins

So many people are suffering from nutrient deficiencies and don’t even know it. Nutrient deficiencies can cause many issues like fatigue, headaches, insomnia, anxiety, and depression.

Although I believe you should get most of your necessary vitamins and minerals from food, sometimes that is hard to do.

Especially since our soils are being depleted of vital minerals because of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.

I take many different vitamins and supplements every day. I notice a significant difference in the way I feel when I’m taking vitamins consistently versus when I’m not taking them at all.

They make a huge difference!

However, my philosophy regarding supplements has shifted greatly over time. For years, I supplemented with synthetic B vitamins, zinc, and vitamin D.

I’ve now learned that synthetic vitamin D increases calcification in the body, causes potassium waste, and depletes magnesium. Synthetic B vitamins are derived from coal tar and zinc supplements destroy the bioavailability of copper in the body.

Taking supplements without knowing what they are made from or how they truly affect the body can have major unintended consequences.

Now, I primarily only consume whole-food supplements and stay away from anything synthetic.

A few of my favorite whole-food supplements are listed below.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, developing and maintaining healthy habits is essential for women’s overall well-being, both physically and mentally. By committing to a holistic approach to health, women can enhance their quality of life, boost their energy levels, and enjoy long-term wellness.

Hopefully, these suggestions help you start your health and wellness journey without stress and overwhelm. Transitioning to a healthy lifestyle isn’t easy, but it’s so worth it!
