5 Amazing Benefits Of Drinking Water

Water is essential for life, making up a significant portion of our bodies and playing a vital role in nearly every bodily function. Despite its importance, many people underestimate the power of drinking enough water daily. In this article, we’ll explore the many amazing benefits of drinking water and why it should be a top priority in your daily routine.

It is so important to take care of yourself. I firmly believe that we cannot truly care for others until we first learn to care for ourselves. I don’t just believe this—I know this because I’ve had to learn this lesson in my own life.

After becoming a mom in 2006, taking care of myself was at the bottom of my priority list. At the time, I truly believed that I was being the best mom and wife I could be by putting my children’s and husband’s needs before my own.

Over the years, my health really began to deteriorate—my mental health, my physical health, and my spiritual health.

I learned the hard way that you must first take care of yourself in order to take care of your family.

My idea of taking care of yourself doesn’t involve getting your nails done every week (although there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that) or going on a shopping spree every weekend (although there’s nothing wrong with that either). However, it does mean properly caring for your mind, body, and spirit.

When you prioritize self-care, you will have so much more energy, wisdom, and love to share with your family.

So, with all that being said, one of the easiest and most affordable ways to take better care of yourself is to drink more water. Most people already know that water is good for their bodies and that they should to drink it more, but they still don’t do it.

I was one of those people.

One of my goals for the new year was to drink more water every day, and I’ve stuck with it. And it has made a significant impact on my overall health.

So keep reading to find out why you should drink more water, and make sure you read to the very end, where you’ll find a tool I’ve created to help you drink more water every day 🙂

Benefits of Drinking Water

1 | Increased Energy

Dehydration can lead to fatigue. Staying well-hydrated throughout the day can help you avoid feeling drained and drowsy.

Whenever I feel the need for a cup of coffee in the afternoon, I grab a glass of water instead. Water truly is the best energy drink. Even better, it has zero calories and is caffeine-free, so you won’t crash and burn a few hours later.

2 | Beautiful Healthy Hair

If your hair starts to lose its shine or feels dry and brittle, it could indicate that you’re not drinking enough water. Under normal conditions, hair is composed of about 10-15% water. The exact percentage can vary depending on humidity levels and how well-hydrated the hair is.

Not only will drinking more H20 make your hair softer and shinier, but it will also help it grow quickly.

Water hydrates the body which helps to regulate the circulatory system, which feeds the hair follicle, which then stimulates hair growth. So, if you want longer, healthier hair, drink more water!

3 | Gorgeous Glowing Skin

The most significant improvement in my skin hasn’t come from an expensive treatment or mud mask—it’s come from drinking more water. Since your skin is 64% water, it makes sense that drinking more water would improve its appearance.

For years my skin was super dull looking, and it looked like the life had been sucked out of it. I thought I was taking really good care of it by using high-end creams and serums, but they weren’t making much of a difference.

Once I increased my water intake, I noticed an improvement in my skin within a few days. The dullness disappeared, and my skin had a slight glow. So instead of purchasing that super expensive serum, save your money and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!!!!

4 | Weight Loss

Drinking more water helps you lose weight in several ways. The obvious one is that it makes you feel fuller, so you don’t overeat. But drinking water also boosts your metabolism, which helps you burn more calories and shed more pounds.

Water is also essential for lipolysis, the process where the body breaks down fat for energy.

5 | Less Headaches

I used to suffer from headaches on a daily basis for years. I was completely dependent on Tylenol to get through my day. What I didn’t realize was my unhealthy diet and being constantly dehydrated was causing my chronic headaches.

So, if you suffer from headaches like I did, try drinking more water and see if they stop. Life is so much better when you don’t have a headache!!

So there you go. If you want to take better care of yourself so you can better care for your family and home, drinking more water is a great place to start.

It’s extremely affordable, it’s easy, and the benefits are amazing.

How Much Water Should I Drink?

If you’re wondering how much water you should drink, a general rule is to drink half your body weight in ounces daily. So, if you weigh 160 pounds, you should drink 80 ounces of water daily.

This is what I do, and it works for me.

However, I firmly believe that every body is different and every body needs different things. What works for one person may not work for another. So, I recommend gradually increasing your water intake every day. Pay attention to how you feel and look, and listen to your body.

Also, the quality of your water matters…..a lot!

What Kind of Water Should I Drink?

There are many different types of water to choose from—filtered, tap, spring, reverse osmosis, etc.

Not all water is created equal and the type of water you drink really does matter.

You want to choose a water that is rich in minerals and contains very little toxins.

Spring water is my absolute favorite type of water to drink. Although, the quality can vary from brand to brand. I really like Mountain Valley spring water and Icelandic Glacial Natural spring water.

With that being said, spring water can be very pricey.

Reverse osmosis is the next best water, in my opinion. But you have to make sure you add the minerals back in—otherwise, it can actually do more harm than good.

I installed a reverse osmosis system under my kitchen sink quite a few years ago, and I absolutely love it. I add the minerals back in using trace mineral drops.

I’ve done the math, and even with the initial investment, filter replacements, and mineral drops, it is still a very affordable option for high-quality water.

Although I definitely still splurge on spring water from time to time.
