DIY Pumpkin Spice Lip Scrub
Keep your lips exfoliated and hydrated this fall and winter with this DIY pumpkin spice lip scrub. Your lips will love the skin nourishing ingredients and it tastes super yummy, too!
I don’t know about you, but my lips get super dry and chapped during the fall and winter months.
I apply lip balm throughout the day, but sometimes, it’s just not enough to combat the dryness.
Lip balm isn’t very effective if it’s applied to dead skin. The dead skin must be removed for the lip balm to penetrate the skin properly.
Consistent exfoliation is the key to soft, smooth, moisturized lips, and I have a super yummy lip scrub recipe that will do just that!
This homemade pumpkin spice lip scrub is not only delicious but also completely removes dry, dead skin to reveal kissable, hydrated lips.

DIY Pumpkin Spice Lip Scrub Ingredients
This homemade lip scrub contains only a few ingredients, and they are all 100% natural! Learn more about each ingredient below, and try to use organic ingredients whenever possible.
Small Jar
You will need a small jar to store this DIY pumpkin spice lip scrub. I recommend a 2-ounce jar. These are the ones that I use.
Sugar
Sugar is absolutely essential to this DIY pumpkin spice lip scrub. Without it, it wouldn’t be much of a scrub at all. The sugar crystals polish and exfoliate the lips.
You can use brown sugar or white sugar—either one will work.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is amazing for the skin. It is extremely moisturizing, antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory.
It is also incredibly rich in antioxidants, which can help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals and environmental stressors.
If you don’t have coconut oil, you can use almond oil. But
Also, be sure to use solid coconut oil, not fractionated coconut oil.
Pumpkin Spice
Pumpkin spice simply adds an all-natural, yummy scent and flavor to the pumpkin spice lip scrub. Without it, this wouldn’t be a pumpkin spice lip scrub at all.
Manuka Honey
Manuka honey helps to keep the skin hydrated and soft. It is also great at gently exfoliating away dead skin cells.
Manuka honey can be pricey, though, so if you’d rather use raw honey, you can. However, manuka honey is preferred because of its antibacterial properties.

Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that acts as an antioxidant. It helps to protect cells, including skin cells, from damage.
Vitamin E isn’t 100% necessary, but it does add some extra skin-healing benefits and may help extend the lip scrub’s shelf life.

How Often Can This Lip Scrub Be Used?
When it comes to lip scrub, you don’t want to overdo it and over-exfoliate. Over-exfoliating can irritate the lips and cause redness.
I recommend a few times a week, maybe a little more or a little less, depending on the time of year.
How Long Do You Leave Lip Scrub On For?
You only need to massage in the lip scrub for about a minute. It isn’t necessary to leave it on any longer than that.
Make sure to use a gentle motion when applying to your lips. Over-exfoliating is bad for your lips because it can cause small cuts, so be careful!
How to Store DIY Pumpkin Spice Lip Scrub
Homemade lip scrub should be stored in an airtight (preferably glass) container. It does not need to be refrigerated, but doing so may extend its shelf life.
Always make sure your hands are clean before using a homemade lip scrub, and never allow water to get into the lip scrub. This will prevent the lip scrub from being contaminated with harmful bacteria.
When Does This DIY Pumpkin Spice Lip Scrub Expire?
As long as you follow the directions above and don’t allow harmful bacteria to contaminate the lip scrub, it should be safe to use for at least one year.
Keep in mind that this is assuming all the ingredients used are fresh. If they are not, this lip scrub will expire whenever the ingredients you used are set to expire.
For example, if you used sugar from your pantry that is set to expire in 30 days, your lip scrub will also expire in 30 days.
I hope that makes sense. When making homemade skincare products, it’s best to use fresh ingredients whenever possible. That way, you can ensure a long shelf life.
