Thrive Market Review – Is it Worth It?

Have you been wondering about Thrive Market and whether or not you should try it? Well, I’ve had my Thrive Market membership for over 5 years and I’ve placed around 50 orders with them.

So I thought I would share my honest Thrive Market review to help you decide whether or not a Thrive Market membership is right for you.

What is Thrive Market?

Thrive Market is an online grocery store that sells natural and organic foods. They also sell natural and organic cleaning products, hygiene products, make-up products, and more!

They believe everyone should have access to healthy products, reliable information, and affordable prices. They currently have over 500,000 members.

How Does Thrive Market Work?

Thrive Market is a members-only online store. Imagine if Costco and Trader Joe’s had a baby. That baby would be Thrive Market. The annual membership fee is $59.95. Which basically breaks down to about $5 a month.

This annual fee allows Thrive Market to sell organic, non-GMO products at wholesale prices. You’ll most likely recoup your membership fee in savings after just a few orders. Take a look at my savings below!

That’s $1760.87 in savings!!!

For less than $60 a year (basically $5 a month) you get:

  • 25-50% off retail prices on 6,000+ organic, non-GMO, and sustainable products
  • Carefully curated product selection that can be filtered by 70+ dietary and lifestyle needs
  • Members-only deals, rewards, and free full-size product gifts (more about that below)

Update 3/20/2020: Thrive Market now offers a monthly membership plan that is $12 a month. If you choose the annual plan it breaks down to about $5 a month. So the annual plan is a much better deal.

But the monthly plan is great for people who don’t want to make the yearly commitment. But keep in mind, you can get a full refund on either plan if you cancel within 30 days.

Thrive Market Membership Fee Refund

If you decide to purchase an annual membership and don’t recoup the membership fee in savings within the year, Thrive Market will automatically apply Thrive Cash (money that can be used at Thrive Market) to your account based on the difference between the membership fee and your previous year’s savings.

They guarantee your annual membership will always pay for itself in savings.

Thrive Gives

Thrive Market matches every paid Thrive Market membership with a free membership for someone in need. They call it Thrive Gives.

Since 2015, Thrive Market members have donated more than $1.5 million at checkout, which funds the shopping budgets of their Thrive Gives members and sends Thrive Market staples to families in crisis.

In recent years, that included tens of thousands of families separated at the Mexican border, displaced by natural disasters, or put on furlough during the government shutdown.

I love knowing my Thrive Market membership fee is helping families in need. To me, that is worth the membership fee alone!

You can click here to learn more about the Thrive Gives program.

Freebies & Samples

Thrive Market almost always offers free gifts with purchase. To qualify for the free gifts, you will usually have to place a minimum order of $50. These freebies usually have at least a value of $10. But usually much higher.

For example, a few freebies I’ve received in the past are a hair, skin, and nails supplement ($27.99), bone broth ($15), shampoo, conditioner, and hair treatment ($20) and so much more!!!!

Below is a recent freebie promo they sent out.

Thrive Market promo email

The freebies alone will pay for your membership!!!

And I almost forgot, they also give free samples with every purchase.

Thrive Market Promo Codes

And when they aren’t offering freebies, they are usually offering promo codes for free shipping or 10% to 25% off your total purchase. Which again will help you recoup your membership fee in savings.

I love to get the most bang for my buck so I always wait for a really good freebie or promo code before I place an order with them. But I never have to wait that long because they are very generous with their offers.

Thrive Cash

Thrive Cash is money that can be spent at Thrive Market. Think of it as store credit. You can earn Thrive Cash by purchasing select products or by writing customer reviews for items you’ve purchased.

Every now and then Thrive Market will email a promo code for Thrive Cash. One time I received a promo code for 40% back in Thrive Cash on my Thrive Market purchase!!!!

Best Finds on Thrive Market

To me, the best finds on Thrive Market are products that are high quality but are also less expensive than most other stores.

Some of my favorite finds are:

Thrive Market Goods

Thrive Market has developed their own line of products called Thrive Market Goods. I’m obsessed with many of the Thrive market Goods products.

They are very high quality and the prices are amazing! And you can’t find them anywhere else but Thrive Market. This is another reason the membership is absolutely worth it!

Some of my favorite Thrive Market Goods products are:

Starter Kits

One of my favorite things about Thrive Market is that they cater to people who are on specialty diets. You can filter their products by diet and they also carry a variety of specialty diet starter kits.

Such as a paleo starter kit, AIP starter kit, gluten-free starter kit, vegan starter kit, and so many more!!!! You can check them out here.

These kits basically contain 10-15 of Thrive Market’s most popular items specific to each diet.

Grocery shopping when you have dietary restrictions can sometimes be a pain in the you-know-what. These kits can help eliminate a lot of the unnecessary stress and anxiety associated with trying to find foods that you can eat! And they’re great for trying new things.

Thrive Market Shipping Costs

Orders ship for $5.95. Orders over $49 ship free. To avoid shipping charges place an order for $49 or more or wait for a free shipping promo code.

Thrive Market Shipping Time

I don’t have to wait very long for my Thrive Market orders to arrive. Shipping usually takes between 2 and 3 days. But obviously, shipping times may vary depending on location.

Thrive Market Packaging

When it comes to the packaging they definitely know what they’re doing. Everything is packed so well. Out of the 50+ orders I’ve placed, I’ve only had one issue. And I order a ton of glass and liquid products.

The issue by the way was a shampoo bottle that had leaked out. They ended up shipping me out a replacement and also giving me a promo code for a percentage of my next order.

So is Thrive Market worth it?

Well, that’s about it for my Thrive market review. You may be left asking “so do you think it’s worth it?”. To be honest, I think that answer is going to vary from person to person.

For me, it is absolutely worth every penny. I have an autoimmune disease and a huge part of my healing is food. Eating non-GMO, organic foods is vital to my health.

I’m surrounded by grocery store chains that have a very limited selection of organic, gluten-free foods. And what they do have is extremely overpriced.

The nearest Whole Foods is 50 minutes away from me. Sprouts is around a 25-minute drive but I often find Thrive Market’s prices are better.

I think Thrive Market is best for people who:

  • are on a specialty diet (gluten free, paleo, keto, etc.)
  • don’t have easy access to organic, non-gmo foods
  • are willing to pay a little more for quality

If you only care about saving money and aren’t very concerned about eating healthy than I don’t think Thrive Market is for you!

If you’re getting hung up on the membership fee, please don’t! Your health is worth $5 a month!!!!

If you’re a Starbucks drinker, skip Starbucks once a month to pay for your membership.

If you eat out a lot, start making more meals at home. There are so many ways to cut costs in other areas to pay for your membership.

If paying for a Thrive Market membership will cause a legit financial hardship for you and your family, try applying for a Thrive Gives membership. You can apply here!

How to cancel Thrive Market free membership

If you try it out and don’t want to continue your membership you can cancel by clicking here.

When I first signed up I only wanted to take advantage of the 25% off and free 30 day trial that they were offering. I had every intention to cancel my membership once the 30 days were over. But here I am 5 years later.

But if you don’t feel the same as I do about Thrive Market, just remember to cancel before the 30 days are over and you will receive a full refund. Mark it on your calendar or set a reminder on your phone so you don’t forget.

And don’t forget you can get 30% off your first order plus a free gift when you join Thrive Market using this link!
