Revive Essential Oils Review

Revive essential oils are a well-known essential oil company. Their essential oils are extremely affordable, and they claim their essential oils are 100% pure. But are their essential oils as high quality as they claim? Keep reading this Revive essential oils review to find out!

Revive Essential Oils Review

I first heard about Revive essential oils a couple of years ago when I began looking for a more affordable essential oil brand.

At the time, I had discovered brands like Simply Earth, Florihana, and Plant Therapy.

I was so happy to discover these brands, and although Revive essential oils had been on my radar ever since then, I had never gotten around to trying them and doing a full review.

I take these essential oil brand reviews very seriously. I don’t just try the oils once and then write a review – I like to use the oils for a few months and thoroughly research the company and its essential oils.

Revive essential oils is probably the brand that I get asked to review the most, so I decided it was finally time I got around to publishing this Revive essential oils review.

Are Revive Essential Oils Legit?

Many essential oil users have become disheartened and frustrated with the MLM essential oil brands and community. Not only are the MLM essential oil brands extremely overpriced but often times there is pressure to sell the oils and recruit others to the MLM.

Because of the high prices and the toxic environment that can exist in the MLM essential oil community, many people have been seeking alternatives.

The good news is there are many alternatives!

I used to believe the MLM brands were the best. Pretty much for no other reason other than the fact that they said so.

I became a member of a very popular MLM brand shortly after being diagnosed with Hashimotos.

I wanted to heal my autoimmune condition naturally, and a big aspect of that was eliminating the toxic chemicals in my environment.

Essential oils became an essential part of that journey for me. Because of essential oils, I was able to ditch so many of the toxic products I used to use.

Unfortunately, I was also spending crazy amounts of money on essential oils, and I came to the realization in 2019 that the natural living lifestyle I was living was not sustainable.

At least not if I continued using the same essential oil brand.

So, like I mentioned earlier, I decided to do my own research and find out whether or not this high-priced essential oil brand was truly the best or were there other brands that sold oils that were just as good but at a lower price.

I not only discovered that in fact there were affordable essential oil brands that sold high-quality oils but that there were actually many brands that sold high-quality oils at affordable prices.

I’ve been very curious to know whether or not Revive essential oils is one of these brands as well.

Back in September of this year, Revive actually reached out to me and asked if they could send me some of their essential oils to try for free.

I was super excited about this since I had been really wanting to try them out and I told them absolutely.

They did not send me the oils in exchange for anything. They found my blog and thought I would like their oils. They never asked me to write this review.

I’ve been using their oils for a few months now, and today I’m finally going to answer the question – are Revive essential oils legit?

But before we get into the quality and prices of their oils, let’s first talk a little bit about the brand.

Who Owns Revive Essential Oils?

Revive essential oils is family-owned and operated. The founders, Alexandria George, Suleman Ali, and the George family, decided to start Revive essential oils so that high-quality essential oils would be accessible and affordable to everyone.

As a company, they provide excellent customer service and are committed to customer satisfaction.

Revive essential oils is located in San Francisco, California.

Revive Essential Oils Review

When trying to figure out whether or not an essential oil company sells high-quality oils, it is important to go above and beyond just trying the oils.

So many other factors determine whether an essential oil is high-quality and whether or not the essential oil brand is safe to recommend.

Below, you will find the answers to the most important questions that should be asked when researching an essential oil brand.

Where do the Plants Come From That are Used to Make Revive Essential Oils?

Revive sources the plants used to make their oils from around the world. They do not own any of their own farms.

Instead, they go to the country where the specific plant they need grows best.

The plants used to make their oils are sustainably harvested worldwide and brought to the United States for quality testing before bottling.

Are the Plants Used to Make Their Oils Organic or Wildcrafted?

According to Revive, all of the plants used to make their essential oils are either wildcrafted (which means harvested from the wild) or organic.

Every part of the process-from seeds, planting, growing, harvesting, distilling, and bottling is performed with zero pesticides and zero chemicals.

Are Revive Essential Oils Pure?

Revive essential oils are 100% pure and free from any additives, adulterants, fillers, synthetics, or dilutions. Revive also provides GC/MS testing reports to their customers to prove the purity of their essential oils. More about that is below.

Do They Use Proper Extraction Methods?

The distillation process an essential oil company implements is extremely important. The therapeutic benefits of a plant can be destroyed in the extraction process if done improperly. Steam distillation at a very low temperature is best.

All Revive essential oils are steam distilled and are the first distillation with the exception of their citrus oils.  Their citrus essential oils are cold-pressed and not steam distilled, which is typical for citrus oils.

Are Revive Essential Oils Bottled and Labeled Properly?

Essential oils should always be bottled in dark glass bottles. Essential oils contain strong chemical compounds that can break down and react when coming in contact with plastic.

Essential oils can go bad if exposed to ultraviolet radiation, and that is why it is important that the bottle is a dark color as well.

Also, the label should include at least the Latin botanical name of the plant. For example, the label should read “Lavandula angustifolia” instead of just “Lavender”. Most reputable essential oil companies will include both names.

The label should also include the country of origin.

If an essential oil company does not bottle its essential oils in dark glass bottles and at least include the Latin botanical name on the label, that is a clear sign that you should avoid that brand.

Fortunately, Revive does bottle its essential oils in dark glass bottles. The labels on their essential oils do include their Latin botanical name as well.

Unfortunately, the label does not include the country of origin. Although the country of origin is listed on the essential oils product page on the Revive website.

Do They Provide GC/MS Testing Reports?

As I mentioned earlier, Revive essential oils does provide GC/MS testing reports to their customers. You can find them on the product pages of their website.

Dr. Pappas and his company, Essential Oil University, perform GC/MS testing along with other independent third-party testing on all Revive essential oils.

Dr. Pappas is a Ph.D. chemist. He has been testing essential oils since 1996 and previously worked for Doterra and Young Living testing the purity, quality, and potency of their oils.

The following third-party tests are performed on every lot of every Revive essential oil:

  1. Automated Micro-Enumeration (listing elements)
  2. Combustibility (catch on fire)
  3. Chiral Chromatography (separation of optical isomers)
  4. Densitometry (light-sensitivity)
  5. Disintegration Testing (breakdown rate)
  6. Flashpoint (check for contamination or adulteration)
  7. Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) (absorption or emission of solid, liquid, or gas)
  8. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) (components are separated and identified)
  9. High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) (separate, identify, and quantify each component in the mixture)
  10. Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP-MS) (Detects metals at extremely low concentrations)
  11. Inductively Coupled Plasma- Atomic Optical Emission (ICP-OES) (Detects trace metals)
  12. Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IR-MS) (abundance of isotopes)
  13. Microscopy (look at cells)
  14. Optical Rotation (rotation of the plane of polarization)
  15. Organoleptic Testing (transfer of taste or odor to packaging)
  16. pH Testing (acidity or alkalinity)
  17. Polarimetry (passing polarized light)
  18. Refractometry (Refractive Index) (refractive indices of gases)
  19. Specific Gravity (fluid density)
  20. Viscometry (fluid consistency)

Are Revive Essential Oils Priced Fairly?

One of the best things about Revive essential oils is the price of their oils. Their essential oils are definitely priced fairly especially considering the high quality of their oils.

I compared the price of a few of their oils with Simply Earth and Plant Therapy, and they were all priced very similarly.

Some were a little more per milliliter, and some were a little less.

If you usually purchase your oils from well-known MLM essential oil brands, you’ll definitely notice a huge price difference between those brands and Revive essential oils.

That is because the MLM essential oil brands have huge overhead costs and huge margins. MLM companies often lavish their top sellers with outrageous commissions, vacations, cruises, and prizes. Plus, they also have to pay for their office buildings.

Unfortunately, MLM companies often inflate the price of their products so that they can afford to pay for all of this.

With Revive essential oils, there are absolutely zero middlemen and they sell their essential oils for a very modest profit.

Can You Ingest Revive Essential Oils?

According to the frequently asked questions page on the Revive essential oils website, you can safely ingest their essential oils.

They state that because their essential oils are high quality and pure they can be taken internally. Although, they do state that not all essential oils are safe for internal use.

I’m personally not a fan of recommending the internal use of any essential oil brand all willy-nilly. I would highly recommend talking to your doctor before ingesting essential oils from Revive or any other essential oil brand, for that matter.

Are Revive Essential Oils From China?

There was a claim made on a blog that is owned by a Young Living rep that Revive essential oils come from China. But after researching this topic, I found no evidence of this.

Revive does source the plants that are used to make their oils from all around the world, and I suppose some of those plants could come from China because that is where the plant is best grown.

But I think the author was trying to insinuate that the oils were completely synthetic, and they get all of them from China, which is just not true. There is absolutely no evidence to back up this claim.

That same blog post states that most, if not all essential oil companies (besides Young Living, of course) cannot answer the following questions regarding their essential oils:

Where were they grown?
Are they treated with pesticides?
Do they contain any solvents?
How were the oils extracted from the plants?
Are they synthetically made?
Do they use fertilizers?
Does the grower harvest at the optimal time?
Do they contain any actual plants?
Can I ingest them?

And while I absolutely agree that these questions are extremely important and should be asked, it is an absolute lie to say most essential oil companies cannot answer these questions.

That’s just completely untrue.

I’ve done many essential oil company reviews on this blog and in each one of those reviews, I basically answer every one of the questions above.

Any reputable essential oil company should be able to answer these questions; most of them provide the answers to them on their websites. They are not hard to find.

It is silly to claim that most essential oil companies can’t answer the above questions. I am seriously baffled as to how anyone could come to that conclusion.

Anyways, moving on!

Revive vs Young Living

Before I address the major differences between Revive and Young Living, I just want to preface this by saying I used to only use Young Living oils and still use them occasionally.

I think they are high-quality oils. But I definitely do not think they are the best. I think there are many high-quality brands out there that cost significantly less than Young Living.

Young Living has done a great job at marketing and dominating the essential oil industry. But they are not the only high-quality essential oil brand.

And if you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on high-quality oils, you don’t have to.

One of the major differences between the two brands is Young Living is an MLM company, and Revive is not.

According to Webster’s Dictionary, an MLM is a “business structure or practice in which an individual seller earns commissions both from direct sales and from the sales of the seller’s recruits, of those recruited by the seller’s recruits, and so on”.

Some have claimed that as much as 60% of the price of purchasing MLM brand essential oils actually goes to the distributors in the upline.

With Revive essential oils there is never any pressure to recruit others or sell essential oils.

Another benefit of Revive essential oils not being an MLM company is that their essential oils are not very expensive at all, especially compared to Young Living.

For example, a bottle of lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia) will cost you around $.90 per milliliter from Revive essential oils, and it will cost you around $2.21 per milliliter when you purchase from Young Living.

All of the Young Living essential oils are significantly more expensive than the Revive essential oils.

You’ll save, on average, around 50% shopping with Revive essential oils rather than Young Living.

Another very important difference between the two companies is that Revive essential oils provides its customers with GC/MS testing reports, and Young Living does not.

In an article posted on dgaryyoung.com (Gary Young is the founder of Young Living) back in 2014, it basically states that when someone asked him why Young Living does not provide GC/MS testing reports, he responded with, “Would you even know how to read it if I did”.

In the same article, he continues to state, “So just having a GC printout is meaningless unless you’re an analytical chemist and know how to read it. So why would I waste all the paper just sending them out when no one would even have a clue how to read them? Is there anybody reading this who can look at a GC report and tell me what they’re looking at? I rest my case”.

I don’t know about you, but to me, that is a really condescending response.

I am not an analytical chemist and I completely acknowledge that I don’t entirely know how to interpret the data on GC/MS testing reports.

However I do know how to read and can clearly understand the comments on the reports where it states that the analysis of the batch sample meets the expected chemical profile for the authentic essential oil and that no contamination or adulteration was detected.

I don’t think I need to be an analytical chemist to interpret that statement.

I rest my case.

Revive vs Doterra

The same differences between Young Living and Revive basically exist between Doterra and Revive essential oils as well.

Doterra is an MLM essential oil company and Revive essential oils is not.

Revive essential oils are much, much, much more affordable than Doterra essential oils.

For example, a bottle of lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia) will cost you around $.90 per milliliter from Revive essential oils, and it will cost you around $2.04 per milliliter when you purchase from Doterra.

Doterra does not provide its customers with GC/MS testing reports, and Revive essential oils does.

Revive Essential Oils Lawsuit

Doterra sued Revive essential oils in 2019. Doterra sued them on the grounds that Revive essential oils were claiming that the quality of their oils was the same as Doterra’s.

Unfortunately, I could not find the status of this lawsuit, no matter how hard I tried. So, I have no idea if it’s still pending.

Are Revive Essential Oils Good Quality?

Overall, I think Revive essential oils are great quality oils. They are 100% pure, and they are affordable.

They have a very large selection of essential oils on their website. They also have essential oil diffusers, carrier oils, room sprays, and more.

One of the things I missed the most about the previous (more expensive) essential brand that I used to use was their essential oil blends.

But over time, I’ve been able to find blends that are very similar to many of my favorite blends.

Revive essential oils has over 120 different custom essential oil blends. They actually have a chart on their website that compares their blends to Young Livings and Doterras.

You can check it out here.

The chart basically lists some of Young Living and Doterra’s most popular blends and the Revive essential oil blend that is most similar to their blends.

Some of my favorite Revive essential oil blends are Courage, Digest Aid, Immunity Boost, and EndoPlus.

You can click here to check out all of their custom blends.

Revive essential oils offers free shipping and returns on all orders to the USA or Canada.

And they also have a 100% money-back guarantee on unopened or opened bottles within 100 days of purchase.

You can also exchange your opened or unopened bottles within 100 days of purchase, no questions asked.

If you’re looking for an affordable, high-quality, trustworthy essential oil brand, you should definitely check out Revive essential oils.

Where to Buy Revive Essential Oils

You will not find Revive essential oils on the shelves of Walmart, Target, or any other physical store. Their essential oils are sold only on their website and have been recently made available on Amazon.

I highly recommend purchasing on the company website versus Amazon because the oils are priced a little higher on Amazon, and you can also use the coupon code below when you shop on the Revive website.

Plus, shipping and returns are always free when you purchase from the Revive website!

Revive Essential Oils Coupon

If you decide to try Revive essential oils after reading this Revive essential oils review, you can use the code happyheart10 at checkout to receive 10% off your first order or 15% off your order if you spend over $100.

I hope this review helped you realize that high-quality essential oils don’t have to cost a ton of money. There are definitely more affordable options available.

I truly believe Revive oils are pure essential oils of the highest quality, and Revive is an amazing company with great customer service.
