Everyone has dreams and goals for their lives. But not everyone succeeds in reaching them. I’ve always been intrigued by how some people are able to accomplish so much in life and others so little. Do these go-getters possess something the others don’t? I don’t believe they do. I believe everyone has everything they need inside themselves to turn their dreams into reality. In order to reach your goals in life you just have to make a few adjustments and create a few new healthy habits. Keep reading to find out what they are 😉

Be More Productive
This tip kind of goes without saying but I’m gonna say it anyway. Your dreams and goals aren’t just going to manifest magically overnight. You have to work towards them constantly. Everyday. Develop a plan of action (more about that below) and do something everyday that will bring you closer to that thing you want so bad. Read this post for my favorite productivity tips.
Manage Your Time Better
Time is my biggest enemy when it comes to reaching goals in my own life. It feels as if there is never enough. But the reality is we all get 24 hours in a day and there are just some people in life who are better at managing that time than others. I’m not one of those people. But I’m getting better. And if you want to reach your goals you need to try to get better at this as well. Check out this post if you would like to improve your time management skills. Because life is busy and if you truly desire to reach the goals you’ve made, you have to spend time everyday working towards them.
Set a realistic timeframe
Don’t create goals that are so difficult to reach that you’re destined to fail. For example, if your goal is to lose 30 pounds, don’t give yourself a month to do it. Give yourself a more realistic and healthier amount of time to do it. When we don’t give ourselves a reasonable amount of time to accomplish our goals we set ourselves up for failure. I know you’re excited and want to reach your goals as quickly as possible but good things take time.
Sleep is so important to our overall well-being. Lack of sleep can really affect our quality of life in a negative way. Some people think they can get more done if they sleep less because they will have more time. But this doesn’t actually work. Lack of sleep not only drains your body physically but also mentally. It reduces your ability to focus and concentrate and it also makes decision-making extremely difficult. So make sure you get 7-8 hours of sleep every night. Get & Stay Motivated
Motivation is the secret to productivity. And productivity is the secret to reaching your goals. Whatever it is you want to accomplish in life you have to be motivated everyday to work towards that dream. You can have all the time, energy, and money in the world but if you don’t have the motivation you will fail. Read this post for tips on how to get motivated.
Be patient with yourself. Just like I mentioned in one of the previous tips, good things take time. And I know so many of us want what we want and we want it now but that’s not reality. The reality is good things come to those who wait. Studies have shown you’re more likely to reach your goals by working on them a little bit everyday for a longer period of time versus working on them for a larger amount everyday for a shorter period of time. When we try to accomplish our goals by working harder and longer in a short amount of time, we’re more likely to become burnt out and overwhelmed. So take your time!
Give yourself grace
How many of us are guilty of giving up on our goals because we make a mistake or we don’t see results as soon as we’d like? I know I’m 100% guilty of this. But if we don’t give ourselves grace in this area we will never reach our goals. The one thing I can guarantee when it comes to being successful and reaching your goals is you will make mistakes. But that’s no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater (I really dislike that saying ?). Give yourself grace. Learn to accept imperfection and do not give up!
Develop a Plan Of Action
I’m sure many of you have heard the saying “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. I’m not sure if truer words were ever spoken. If you have goals but you don’t have a plan you might as well give up now. In order to reach your goals, you have to develop a plan of action. Write down all the major steps you need to take to reach your goal. Then break down those steps into smaller steps and those smaller steps into even smaller steps.
Get A planner
If you’re ready to kick butt at life and finally turn your dreams into reality then you need a planner. Not only do you need a planner but you and your planner need to become best friends. Planners are my most recommended tool for increasing productivity, improving time management, and especially for reaching your goals. Once you’ve developed your plan of action take that information and add it to your planner. Break it down month by month, day by day. Take your planner out every morning and review what you need to do that day in order to reach your goal. I personally use and absolutely love the Happy Planner.
Pray & Seek the Lord
If you’re a Christian like me then you know how important it is to be praying and seeking the Lord daily. We should always be praying to know His will for our lives. Because we can implement every tip on this list but if we neglect to seek the Lord and making sure our desires are his desires, we will fail. Or even worse maybe we’ll succeed and realize only then after we’ve spent so much of our time and energy working towards this goal, that it didn’t bring us the happiness we thought it would. The Lord always has our best interest in mind and he’s always working for our good. And we can trust that his plans for our lives are far better than anything we can imagine. So pray that the Lord would reveal his will for your life and ask Him to give you the wisdom and guidance to accomplish it.
