Homemade Foaming Hand Soap For Spring
Stay healthy and germ-free with this homemade foaming hand soap for spring. It’s extremely moisturizing and the scent is fully customizable.
One of my absolute favorite homemade products to make is hand soap. It is super easy to make, it doesn’t take a lot of time, and it works great.
I’ve made homemade hand soap for fall and homemade Christmas hand soap. I also have a DIY Thieves hand soap recipe but with spring right around the corner I really wanted something a little florally and more appropriate for springtime.

So I’ve been playing around with my essential oils trying to come up with the perfect spring scented combinations and I’ve created a few that make me feel like spring is already here.
They smell so good! And they are completely toxin-free!!
In case you weren’t aware, most store-bought hand soap is filled with some pretty concerning ingredients.
Many of them contain chemicals and dyes that are known endocrine disruptors. Some of the ingredients can also cause immunotoxicity and neurotoxicity.
Ever since I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in 2018 I have been on a mission to eliminate the harmful toxins in my home and my favorite store-bought hand soaps were one of the very first things to go.
I used to be obsessed with Bath & Body Works hand soaps and candles until I looked them up on the EWG website.
Their hand soaps have a pretty terrible rating. So I ended up switching to a so-called natural brand only to discover that had a pretty bad rating as well.
So I started to make my own and I love it. It’s easy to make, it’s toxin-free, it doesn’t cost very much, and the best part is I can create my own custom scents.
How To Make Homemade Foaming Hand Soap For Spring
To make your own homemade foaming hand soap for spring, you’ll need a foaming soap dispenser or bottle. I buy these foaming dispenser pumps on Amazon. They fit perfectly on to a 12oz mason jar.
You can also buy empty foaming soap dispenser bottles on Amazon. They’re a little bit more money. But remember, you’ll only need to buy them once and you’ll be able to use them over and over.
Whatever type of bottle you decide to use make sure that it is made from glass rather than plastic. Essential oils are very potent and the chemicals from the plastic may begin to deteriorate and leach into the hand soap.
You will also need the following ingredients as well.
Homemade Foaming Hand Soap For Spring Recipe
This recipe is a bit different than my usual hand soap recipes. We have had an extra cold winter and it has really taken a toll on my hands. So I wanted this hand soap to be a bit more moisturizing.
So this recipe includes a bit more glycerin and I also added some aloe vera.
To make your own foaming hand soap for spring, simply add the following ingredients to a 12 oz bottle or jar:
- 4 tablespoons of unscented castile soap
- 2 tablespoon of glycerin
- 1 tablespoon of almond oil
- 1 tablespoon of aloe vera
- essential oils (custom blends are below)
- Fill the rest of the way with distilled water
I’ve created three spring-inspired essential oil combinations below that you can choose from. Simply add the essential oil combo of your choosing to the recipe above.
Spring Dream
- 20 drops lemongrass
- 20 drops spearmint
In Bloom
- 20 drops geranium
- 20 drops ylang ylang
Spring Air
- 20 drops lavender
- 20 drops lemon
Once you’ve added all the ingredients and essential oils to the bottle, attach the lid, and shake well.
This homemade foaming hand soap for spring smells so wonderful and it not only leaves your hands clean but also soft and moisturized.
Make sure to shake it well before each use. It should stay good for at least 30 days.
A few last things……
If the scent is too overpowering feel free to reduce the amount of essential oil. Or if you feel like it is not strong enough you can add a few more drops.
Also, the almond oil and aloe vera are optional. But this hand soap can be a bit drying if you decide to leave them out. You can use coconut oil or jojoba oil instead of almond oil if you like. And feel free to add more almond oil if the recipe above isn’t moisturizing enough for you.
And lastly, be sure to only use 100% pure essential oils. Some companies actually sell fake essential oils and claim that they are pure.
Not only do fake essential oils not work but they can also be very dangerous to use. You can read this article – fake essential oil brands you should avoid – to learn which brands you should never buy and how to spot fake essential oils.
I use and highly recommend Plant Therapy, Florihana, or Simply Earth essential oils. They all sell high-quality, 100% pure essential oils.
And the best part is their prices are amazing!
If you decide to buy from Simply Earth you can use the code HAPPYHEARTFREE to receive a $40 Simply Earth gift card plus a big bonus box with the purchase of your first recipe box.

If you are not familiar with Simply Earth or their recipe box you can check out this post – the best essential oil subscription box – to learn more.
I have been using them for years and I can’t recommend them enough!
