Your Immune System

The immune system is the body’s defense against infectious organisms and other invaders.

When your immune system becomes weakened due to poor nutrition, autoimmune diseases, cancer, or some other issue, you become more prone to sickness and disease.

That is when you have to help your immune system rebuild and grow stronger.

Strengthening Your Immune System

There are many ways to strengthen your immune system. You can start by simply eating healthier, exercising regularly, avoiding alcohol and cigarettes, and getting good sleep.

But many people don’t realize essential oils can also help boost your immune system.

The Power of Essential Oils

Essential oils are the vital fluids of a plant, shrub, root, herb, flower, seed, or tree. They are a highly concentrated form of the natural oils in a plant.

The oil inside a plant operates as the plant’s immune system. It helps protect the plant against predators and disease and aids in plant pollination.

The oil is essential to the life and health of the plant. You can click here to learn more about essential oils and how they work.

Immune Boosting Essential Oils

Essential oils are great for many things. The immune-boosting essential oils below are great for supporting your immune system. They’re a must-have in our home all year long, not just during cold and flu season.

1 | Tea Tree

Tea tree oil has antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties.

American researchers reported in 1999 that tea tree oil helps activate white blood cells, which are part of the immune system.

I like to diffuse it all around the house during cold and flu season, and I also like to add a few drops to my homemade all purpose cleaner.

2 | Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus oil is great for supporting your immune system. It is known for its antiviral and antibacterial properties.

I add eucalyptus oil to my diffusers throughout the fall and winter months.

And if you do happen to get sick, eucalyptus essential oil has decongestant properties that can help to clear your chest.

3 | Rosemary

Rosemary oil contains substances that are useful for stimulating the immune system. It also has a high level of antioxidants, which can help support your body in fighting infectious diseases.

Rosemary is another must-have for the diffuser during cold and flu season. I also use it in my immune booster roller bottle blend and my homemade all purpose cleaner.

4 | Frankincense

They don’t call frankincense the king of essential oils for no reason. Frankincense has so many uses and benefits.

Not only is it great for your skin and emotional support, but it also boosts and supports your immune system.

Frankincense is in my diffuser all the time! I also add it to my immune booster roller bottle blend.

5 | Lemon

Lemon essential oil has many detoxifying properties. It also has strong antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties.

I love to add lemon essential oil to my diffusers all year long because it diffuses all these amazing properties throughout the air, and it smells amazing, too!

I also like to add lemon essential oil to my homemade all purpose cleaner and my immune booster roller bottle blend.

6 | Oregano

If you could only buy one essential oil on this list, I would definitely suggest buying oregano oil. It is a very potent oil!

Some of its properties include antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antiseptic. I use oregano oil in everything—diffusers, cleaners, and roller bottles.

7 | Ginger

Ginger essential oil includes the naturally occurring constituents—zingiberene and beta-phellandrene.

Ginger is great to add to the diffuser because it can help support your immune system and promote an overall healthy lifestyle.

8 | Cinnamon Bark

Cinnamon bark essential oil is one of the most powerful antibacterial and antivirals among essential oils.

If you want to avoid getting sick, you need this oil! I diffuse it throughout the house and add it to my homemade all purpose cleaner.

9 | Clove

Clove essential oil is one of the most antioxidant substances on earth. It has powerful antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties.

I love to add clove to the diffuser. It smells so good!

10 | DIY Wellness Blend

Of course, I saved the best for last. I can not live without this blend. This DIY wellness blend is similar to Thieves from Young Living but much more affordable.

It contains a powerful combination of clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary essential oils. I use it in all the things, just like oregano oil 🙂

You can get the recipe here!

Where to Buy Essential Oils

I used to use Young Living oils exclusively. I’m no longer loyal to just one brand. There are so many amazing essential oil companies out there.

High-quality essential oils don’t have to cost a lot. I use FlorihanaPlant Therapy, and Simply Earth essential oils. They are all amazing and very affordable.

If you decide to buy from Simply Earth, you can use the code HAPPYHEARTFREE to receive a free $45 Simply Earth gift card with the purchase of your first recipe box.

Essential Oil Diffusers

Essential oil diffusers are a must-have for anyone looking to use essential oils for immune support. I own a few from Young Living that I absolutely love!

I also own a few that I purchased from Amazon, and they work great. One is the InnoGear essential oil diffuser, and the other is the URPower essential oil diffuser.

Both are under $20 and are great diffusers for beginners!

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, while essential oils such as eucalyptus, tea tree, and oregano possess potential immune-boosting properties, the scientific evidence supporting these claims is still limited.

These oils may offer antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant benefits, which could support overall wellness and help the body fight off infections.

However, they should not be seen as a substitute for conventional medical treatments or preventive measures such proper nutrition and hygiene. It is essential to use essential oils safely—typically through dilution in carrier oils or diffusing.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post. I hope you and your family are able to stay healthy this cold and flu season.
